About Me

Name

Lennart Levita

Prior Education

Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (Erste Juristische Prufüng, 2022)

Before Ann Arbor

I lived in Freiburg in the beautiful Black Forest in Germany.

Before My LLM Year

I graduated from law school in Freiburg and began my PhD in comparative competition law.

My Time at Michigan Law

Why I Chose Michigan Law

Because I wanted to at least feel like Harry Potter if I couldn’t go to Hogwarts. And, of course, the prestige of the school, the size of the program, and the excellence of the faculty.

My Favorite Class

The Antitrust and Democracy Seminar with Professor Daniel Crane.

The Best Thing About Michigan Law

There are so many great things, but if I had to describe Michigan Law in one word, it would be “community.” The sense of belonging, openness, and mutual support among students are unique characteristics for a top US law school.

The Best Things About Ann Arbor

Ann Arbor combines the advantages of a small town (especially the short distances and lots of nature) with the many cultural and social opportunities that big cities offer. But, if I had to name one particular place, it would definitely be the Big House!

What Surprised Me Most about Michigan Law

How easy it is to make new friends here and how fast you become a part of the Law School and University of Michigan family. You can feel this especially when you are greeted with a friendly “Go Blue” every time you travel with your Michigan wear.

The Most Difficult Thing about the LLM Year

Finding the right balance between studying, socializing, and traveling. You want to get the maximum academic benefit from this program, but you should also enjoy your (potentially) last year as a student and see as much of this beautiful country as possible.

Fun Stuff

When I’m Not Studying

I’m going to the gym (of which there are several at the University), meeting up with friends, taking a walk in the Arb, or attending one of the many great sporting events to cheer on the Wolverines.

My Favorite Way to De-Stress

Listening to music while walking through the Arb or sitting in a massage chair in the Michigan Union.

Extracurricular Activities

LLM representative of the Consumer Advocacy and Financial Regulations Organization (CAFRO); singer in the Headnotes (the Law School’s a cappella group) and the University Musical Society’s Choral Union; drummer for TJ Hooper and the Learned Hands (the Law School’s band).

Favorite Book

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

Favorite TV Show

Peaky Blinders

Favorite Band

TJ Hooper and the Learned Hands

Favorite Beverage

German Beer (not IPA!).

Favorite Food From Home

Laugenbrezel (German pretzel) and cheese.

Favorite food in the United States

American Breakfast every Sunday in the Lawyers Club.

Favorite item at the Law School’s Kirkland & Ellis Cafe

Strong dripped coffee in the morning.
