My Time at Michigan Law
Why I Chose Michigan Law
I conducted extensive research among top US law schools. Initially, I was skeptical when I heard that Michigan Law was considered a leader in international law, given its location in the Midwest. However, after learning about the world-renowned faculty and course offerings, I became convinced that it was the right choice for me. The school’s commitment to global perspectives and its focus on providing a well-rounded education aligned perfectly with my own values and aspirations.
My Favorite Classes
International Law with Professor Ratner, International Refugee Law with Professor Fisher and Comparative Human Rights with Professor McCrudden.
The Best Thing About Michigan Law
The close relationship I had with my professors. I had the opportunity to interact with them during office hours, have lunch with them, and even visit their homes. Through these interactions, I found true mentors who encouraged me to give my best effort and supported my personal and academic growth.
The Best Thing About Ann Arbor
The genuine college town vibe. With around 45,000 graduate and undergraduate students from all over the United States and the world, I felt a great sense of community. I was able to safely walk everywhere, and all the local businesses were designed to cater to students. This made the campus feel like a second home and contributed to my overall sense of belonging.
What Surprised Me Most About Michigan Law
Michigan Law’s reputation is renowned worldwide, and it was evident to me during my trips abroad. I met alumni from all over the globe in airports and train stations, and it was fascinating to hear their stories and learn about their experiences. Michigan Law’s programs are recognized as among the best in different fields, and the school opens doors to a wide range of opportunities.
The Most Difficult Thing about the LLM Year
The cold calls with Professor Ratner were the most challenging aspect of my LLM year, but also the most rewarding. These experiences pushed me to think outside the box and reflect on a variety of topics related to global peace and security.
