Mira Edmonds is the director of the Juvenile Justice Clinic and a clinical professor of law in the Pediatric Advocacy Clinic and the Civil-Criminal Litigation Clinic at the University of Michigan. She is interested in and committed to practicing holistic advocacy and community lawyering.

Her research, teaching, and practice interests include indigent criminal defense, decarceration, prisoner reentry, and the collateral consequences of conviction, as well as the affordable housing crisis, tenants’ rights, and approaches to homelessness prevention and alleviation.

After law school, Edmonds served as a trial attorney in the criminal defense division of the Legal Aid Society in Manhattan for several years. She previously was a visiting associate professor of clinical law and a Friedman Fellow working with the Prisoner & Reentry Clinic (formerly the Neighborhood Law & Policy Clinic) at The George Washington University Law School.

Before joining the Michigan Law faculty, Edmonds spent four years in Shanghai, where she worked on a variety of environmental initiatives and taught at the East China University of Politics and Law.
