Mathias W. Reimann, LLM ’83, the Hessel E. Yntema Professor of Law at the University of Michigan, received his basic legal education in Germany (Referendar, 1978; Assessor, 1981).

Reimann taught for several years at the University of Freiburg Law School. He publishes widely in the United States and abroad in the areas of comparative law, private international law, and legal history. He has held visiting appointments in many countries, including France, Italy, Japan, Israel, Germany, and Austria. ​
