Prasad has managed all aspects of discovery across hundreds of litigation and investigation matters; developed discovery policies and procedures for corporate legal departments, law firms, and government agencies; defended discovery compliance procedures before courts and regulators; and trained judges, prosecutors, government attorneys, practicing lawyers, law students, and litigation professionals on best practices for complex litigation, discovery, litigation technology, artificial intelligence, cyber incident response, and government investigations. He supports corporate legal departments and law firms in a consulting and expert capacity in government and internal investigations and complex litigation.
Previously, Prasad served as a litigation partner and as founder and chair of the Electronic Discovery and Records Management Practice at Mayer Brown LLP; founder and CEO of Discovery Services LLC; and vice president and general counsel of eTERA Consulting.
He has edited four treatises, authored more than 30 articles, and presented hundreds of legal education programs. He co-founded the Government Investigations & Civil Litigation Institute and has held leadership and editorial roles with the Electronic Discovery Institute and the Practising Law Institute. At Michigan Law, he teaches litigation technology, and high stakes litigation and modern discovery. He also teaches at the University of Chicago Law School and previously taught at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law. His current writing and teaching interests include trade fraud investigations and the interaction between litigation technology and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
Prasad has served in a business capacity as a co-investor and strategic adviser to litigation technology and services companies, and the venture capital and private equity investors in those companies.
Throughout his career, he has served children’s health and education organizations, including as board chair and board member of the US Fund for UNICEF (Midwest Chapter) and board member of Lurie Children’s Hospital. He also serves on the Michigan Law AI Advisory Council. He has previously served on the Honors Program Council at the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts.
