Ashish Prasad, an adjunct professor at Michigan Law, is vice president and general counsel of HaystackID. His expertise over the past 25 years has been on discovery, litigation technology, and complex litigation.

He has managed all aspects of discovery across hundreds of litigation and investigation matters; developed policies and procedures for electronic discovery for corporations, law firms, and government agencies; defended discovery compliance procedures before courts and regulators; and trained others on best practices for complex litigation, electronic discovery, litigation technology, remote legal proceedings, and artificial intelligence. 

Previously, Prasad served as litigation partner, founder, and chair of the Mayer Brown LLP Electronic Discovery and Records Management Practice; founder and CEO of Discovery Services LLC; and vice president and general counsel of eTERA Consulting.

He has edited four treatises, authored more than 30 articles, given hundreds of legal education seminars, and served in various capacities with the Electronic Discovery Institute, the Government Investigation and Civil Litigation Institute, and the Practicing Law Institute Electronic Discovery Seminar. He also served as adjunct professor of law at Northwestern University Law School and is currently working on other academic projects, including a course on litigation technology for Michigan Law. 

Prasad has served, in the business context, as a co-investor and strategic adviser to a variety of litigation technology and services companies, and the venture capital and private equity investors in those companies. 
 

Throughout his career, he has volunteered with children’s health and education organizations, community service in the legal industry, and as a member of the Honors Program Council at the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts.
