Alma Diamond is a faculty fellow at the University of Michigan Law School, where she writes and teaches on contracts, legal philosophy, and constitutional theory.

Diamond’s research explores how contracts and constitutions distribute power among individuals across time. In both contexts, she examines the nature of textual interpretation, the interplay between formal rules and informal practices, and the boundaries between rights and coercion. She is interested in what these dynamics reveal about legal reasoning, legal responsibility, and the connections between public and private law.

Previously, Diamond was the Law & Philosophy Fellow at the University of Chicago Law School, where she co-taught the Law & Philosophy Workshop.
