Vivian Fernandez, ’25
Vivian Fernandez, ’25, recently joined the New York office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP as part of the firm’s litigation department, where she intends to build on some of her past experiences and focus on international arbitration.
“My undergraduate focus at Harvard was primarily on Latin America and US-Latin America relations,” she says. “After graduation, I went on to work as a litigation paralegal at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, which allowed me to explore international law further.”
As a first-generation law school student, receiving financial support was integral in my decision to attend Michigan Law. I had a fantastic, well-rounded experience, and I look forward to staying involved with the community—through mentorship, alumni initiatives, or future philanthropic efforts. Go Blue!
Fernandez says that Michigan Law offered an ideal environment to pursue this interest.
“I was drawn to the Law School for a slew of reasons, and in particular, the robust international law program stood out. As a student, I participated in a variety of talks, conferences, and programs, covering topics ranging from investor state dispute settlement to social movements in Latin America. I also had the chance to present my own research through the Salzburg Cutler Fellows Program.”
Fernandez says she is proud to have served as an associate editor and senior editor for the Michigan Law Review. She also was grateful to be a member of the Latinx Law Students Association, which provided a community of mentors and friends during Law School and beyond.
