Jamie Peterson was convicted of rape and murder in Kalkaska County in 1998.
His case became the Michigan Innocence Clinic’s first DNA exoneration in 2014 after the circuit court judge granted a new trial and the prosecutor dismissed all charges.
Jamie’s was also the first Innocence Clinic case to result in the subsequent arrest and conviction of the true perpetrator.
