Kyra Sims counsels students on all aspects of career planning with a particular focus on the private sector. 

She received her JD in 2012 from the Howard University School of Law and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan. Before joining the Office of Career Planning, Kyra practiced in the area of trusts and estates. She has served as an attorney at a boutique firm, as an assistant vice president and trust officer for a local community bank, and as an associate attorney at Miller Canfield, LLP. She also represented pro bono clients in support of Project Clean Slate, a City of Detroit initiative that helps residents expunge criminal convictions and improve access to better employment, housing, and educational opportunities.
