Dennis Kennedy, a lecturer at Michigan Law, is president of Dennis Kennedy Advisory Services LLC. He is an information technology and innovation lawyer and an author well known for promoting the use of technology in the practice of law.

Kennedy focuses on innovation, legal technology, speaking, writing, and coaching, and has been an adjunct professor in the LegalRnD program at Michigan State University College of Law and Washington University Law School, in addition to  Michigan Law.

He retired as senior counsel of the Digital Payments and Labs group at Mastercard, where he focused on information technology law, fintech law, and innovation. He previously practiced law at Thompson Coburn LLP and The Stolar Partnership in St. Louis. His new company concentrates on innovation, legal technology, and productization, including “Legal Innovation as a Service” packages and the Kennedy Idea Propulsion Laboratory.

Kennedy is a fellow of the College of Law Practice Management and former chair of the board of the American Bar Association’s Legal Technology Resource Center.

He wrote the legal technology column for the ABA Journal for many years; wrote the book Successful Innovation Outcomes in Law: A Practical Guide for Law Forms, Law Departments, and Other Legal Organizations (2019); and has co-authored several books, including The Lawyer’s Guide to Collaboration Tools and Technologies (2nd edition, 2018) with Tom Mighell, and Making LinkedIn® Work for You (2019) with Allison Shields. He co-hosts The Kennedy-Mighell Report podcast on the Legal Talk Network and has written his blog, DennisKennedy.Blog, since 2003.
