Allibhai’s research explores how subaltern people throughout the Atlantic World thought about law and shaped legal culture. His current project illuminates the rich history of Black legal and political activism in Revolutionary New England.
Allibhai’s extensive research on the lives of enslaved people in New England has been profiled in the Boston Globe and the Bay State Banner, and recognized by the City of Boston and Mayor Kim Janey. His research has been funded by several institutions, including the Charles Warren Center for Studies in American History, the Social Science & Humanities Research Council of Canada, the Center for American Political Studies, and the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. He has twice been awarded Harvard College’s Certificate of Distinction in Teaching.
