Inundations: Permeable Bodies and the Law
Numerous legal disciplines—FDA law, environmental law, nuisance law, tort, among others—manage human permeability. Yet, toxic chemicals in air, water, and food, bullets, noise, and information continue to flood human bodies, often causing extreme harm. Focusing on the case study of food, I’ll explore the complex and tenuous relationships between bodies, pain, permeability, and the law.
Margot Pollans is a professor of law at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, where she researches and teaches in the areas of food and environmental law, administrative law, and critical legal studies. Her recent work has appeared in the University of Colorado Law Review, the Michigan Law Review, and the California Law Review. She is also the faculty director of the Pace Food Law Center.
