Eric Anderson

Wrongfully convicted: November 5, 2010
Exonerated: April 30, 2019
Wayne County

Eric Anderson was wrongfully convicted of armed robbery (two counts), assault with attempt to rob while armed, and felony firearm in 2010.

He was exonerated in 2019 through the joint efforts of the Michigan Innocence Clinic and the Conviction Integrity Unit of the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

The exoneration was based in large part on the confession of the true perpetrator of the crime, who admitted to committing the crime with another man, not Anderson.

The Conviction Integrity Unit investigated the true perpetrator’s confession, and in the context of the whole case, found that confession credible. The Conviction Integrity Unit agreed to a full exoneration for Mr. Anderson in April 2019.
