This seminar will explore the role derivatives played in the recent
U.S. and global financial crisis, as well as recent domestic and
international regulatory reforms, including implementation in the
United States of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer
Protection Act of 2010, as well as the European Commission’s new
derivatives framework, developments in Asian markets, and the evolving
work of the Financial Stability Board and related bodies. Students
will write a series of short research papers and lead class discussions.
