Domestic Violence Clinical Seminar

In this clinic students will provide civil and criminal representation to domestic violence survivors, while learning substantive domestic violence law. Survivors are increasingly charged with crimes themselves and have
other criminal representation issues when subpoenaed as witnesses in criminal prosecutions. At the same time, the same clients often have civil law needs relating to the same issues (personal protection orders, divorce, custody. etc.). By doing both the criminal and civil representation for clients, students will learn about the ways the representation overlaps, and the gaps in both areas.

In addition to 3 credits from this clinical seminar, students will get 4 credits for the clinical work from Law 922 Domestic Violence Clinic which students must co-elect.

This class does NOT fulfill the seminar requirement for graduation.
