This seminar will examine central concepts of moral philosophy and normative ethics, with attention to applications in law and statecraft. Specific topics may include utilitarianism, rights, wellbeing, social contract theory, abortion, self defense, racial profiling, criminal punishment, torture, and warfare. There will be several short writing assignments and a final paper.
