The Hon. Jonathan Tukel was appointed a judge of the Michigan Court of Appeals in 2017. Prior to his appointment, he was chief of the National Security Unit in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Michigan, where he supervised the counter-terrorism, terrorist-financing, export control, and other programs.

During his career with the Department of Justice, he concentrated his practice in the areas of national security and complex white-collar crime cases, including public corruption, fraud, money laundering, and tax evasion. He also served as an associate deputy attorney general. He co-teaches Law 429, Federal Prosecution and Defense Practicum.
