Participatory defense is a community organizing model that aims to empower clients and their families and assist them in navigating the legal system and being an integral part of the defense team. Participatory defense organizers are not attorneys - they are community leaders, families and friends of incarcerated individuals, and often formerly incarcerated folks themselves. MDefenders will be joined by Oscar Flores, an organizer with All of Us of None, who will provide an overview of the work that participatory defense hubs do and how they engage with defenders and other players in the legal system.
