As discussed during orientation, it is absolutely fine (and normal) to arrive at law school without any clear understanding of where you’d like to begin your career. You aren’t sure of the options, aren’t sure of the difference between the options, and/or aren’t sure which of the options you’re going to like. The generalized advice from the blogs, mentors and career planning is something that sounds like, go forth and “network” in order to find your way. But that sounds hard, exhausting, and superficial. It’s utility seems elusive and its purpose even more opaque. Join Dean Kaul for a workshop that will try to get at how networking – or more appropriately thought of as “prototype conversations” - are an effective way to help get started on the task of career exploration. We’ll also brainstorm techniques for getting started, even if it sounds daunting.
