About the Event

This program marks the plenary meeting of the Academic Forum on ISDS, in cooperation with the Michigan Program on Law and the Global Economy.

The purpose of the Forum is for academics active in the field of international investment law to exchange views, explore issues and options, test ideas and solutions, and make a constructive contribution to contemporary efforts to reform the system of investor-state dispute settlement. The work of the Forum is particularly focused on the ongoing process within the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Working Group III (WGIII), in which member states are developing multilateral procedural reforms to ISDS.

This meeting represents the kickoff event for the Program on Law and the Global Economy, which serves as a hub for the study of international economic law at Michigan—from the regulation of cross-border trade and investment, to international tax and finance, to comparative and transnational commercial law.
