Business Development for Associates
Promotion to partner in a private law firm increasingly depends upon an associate’s ability to demonstrate a potential to develop business. Additionally, in the new normal, partner compensation is rarely lockstep and often requires substantial client development and client originations. This course is for those law students who intend to practice in private law firms upon graduation. It focuses on the ways associates can position themselves to develop business and thus increase the likelihood of becoming and staying an equity partner. It includes substantial role playing. Additionally each student will develop his/her own individual marketing plan. In lieu of a final examination, a short paper will be required.
