I taught English in Amman, Jordan for a year. After returning to the United States, I moved to New York and worked as a program assistant at the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ).
My Dream Job
Working in human rights law for the United Nations.
Biggest Hesitation about Law School
My biggest hesitation was transitioning away from the work lifestyle and going back to school. I loved working, but it’s actually been refreshing to be back in a classroom.
Why I Chose Michigan Law
I chose Michigan Law after traveling to Ann Arbor for Preview Weekend. I had never been to Ann Arbor (or even Michigan), but I fell in love with the town and the campus. Meeting current law students and hearing about their experiences convinced me that Michigan Law was a great school where students actually enjoyed their law school experience and supported each other, while also having great opportunities post-grad.
My Time at Michigan Law
The Best Thing about Michigan Law
The community! Being in a college town instead of a big city means that it is much easier to meet people from across the 1L class, and everyone is really friendly and welcoming. The Lawyers Club is also a really unique aspect of Michigan Law—I love having a 1-minute walk to class.
My Favorite Class
So far, I’m loving Contracts with Professor Zhang. His teaching style is really energetic and interactive, and he is constantly asking us to argue from different perspectives and think about real-life applications of the rules we’re learning.
My Law School Extracurricular Activities
International Law Society (ILS), Public Benefits Advocacy Project, and the Women Law Students Association (WLSA).
My Favorite Study Spot
The Skadden Lounge in LoCo (the Lower Commons).
The Best Thing about Ann Arbor
All of the opportunities to get outside. I’ve loved exploring the Huron River area and the Arb (Nichols Arboretum) while the weather is still warm.
Fun Stuff
My Favorite Way to De-stress
I love going for a run in Ann Arbor, exploring the shops or the Farmers Market downtown, and going out for drinks with friends.
Favorite Book
The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman (I love mystery books!).
Favorite TV Show
New Girl–I’ve been rewatching it in between readings.
Favorite Podcast
UpFirst from NPR (every morning).
Favorite Ice Cream Flavor
Chocolate.
Favorite Ann Arbor Meal
The Tteokbokki or fried chicken at Miss Kim—both are incredible!
